Oscar Wilde could not complain, a stately monument in Merrion Square park right next to the Nationa

Dublin is famous for its strange monuments and many times I wanted some of them to present you. However, I did not know where to start from because there are many. I decided to start with those that have funny nicknames. You must know that Dubliners love to give their monuments nicknames and no one gets upset that perhaps the idea is blasphemous and insulting nicknames and such are what is below. mehndi Dubliners adhere to certain principles - the nickname must have a rhyme.
Anna Livia monument is now in Croppies Memorial Park in Dublin, and was previously on O'Connell Street. The monument is the personification of the River Liffey (the Irish name is Abhainn for Life), which flows through the capital. Anna Livia Plurabelle is one of the characters from the book of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake, which also embodies the river. When the monument was still on O'Connell Street, Anna Livia was sitting almost in the bath or hot tub foam. Therefore, probably invented Dubliners to call her Floozie in Jacuzzi. (Loose in the Jacuzzi). In his new place looks a bit comical without all the support like bath. And it was moved to make room for another monument that is ..
Spire of Dublin or Monument of Light. It is a 121 meter high spire, which was to help, among others, the change is calculated O'Connell Street, mehndi which does not enjoy a good reputation too. Dubliners call briefly spire spire or spike and the Poles Szpila. It is also, of course, a few less politically correct name of this monument, but all how to rhyme - Stiletto in the Ghetto. (Stiletto in the ghetto), or Stiffy by the Liffey (the river Liffey hard - I hope you guessed what was going on because I do not want to be more vulgar)
Near the reels is another interesting monument mehndi called the Meeting Place, but not very many people know that this has a name. all on him say Two Women or by custom nicknames Dublin monumental Hags with the Bags. (Crone with bags). The Culchie's Guide to Dublin says jokingly that if the same monument was located on the south side of the River Liffey, would be known as the southside of slags with Prada bags - (looses from the southern part of Dublin with bags from Prada).
Dublin's most famous monument and probably the most famous resident of the capital at the same time (fictional) or Molly Malone also got his nickname mehndi - The Dolly with the Trolley (Lalunia with carts) and probably the most popular of The Tart with the Cart (slut with Dipper).
Dublin is a city of writers and the next one - Patrick Kavanagh statue erected on the banks of the Grand Canal, because it was his favorite place to rest. Also mentioned about it in his poems for which he paid back generously Dubliners monument bench. As part of the bonus threw it the nickname of The Crank on Bank (Weirdo at River Bank)
Oscar Wilde could not complain, a stately monument in Merrion Square park right next to the National Gallery and the Leinster House (Houses of Parliament). However, I do not know whether on not complaining about his nickname - The Fag on the Crag (gay - or rather offensive word, the Rock), or The Quare on the Square mehndi (as before except that instead of the Rock is on the Square - for Square Merrion)
Finally, I want to show you another monument, which is true nickname mehndi rhymes, but it shows the great Irish humor and self-irony them. Monument called the Chariot of Life (Chariot of Life). The charioteer chariot has uosobniać sense that controls human emotions. Dubliners saw the monument, and completely oblivious to what is supposed to symbolize called him Mad Milkman (Crazy Milkman)

Very interesting these monuments, the more that such "niepomnikowe" (ie, not always rigidly-serious), and the names, nicknames rather them - front :) Only Anna Livia (let's be stylish;)) without support looks at the moment actually a little pointless. I have to admit that I rozczuliło picture of Patrick Kavanagh with a dog :)
and to pomacania like our Viennese elephant nose Tuwima in Lodz :)
So cool :) I did not know that it is the "tradition". Sooooo I like the idea of names and you've described it perfectly. Now you understand why this "our" Nuala with the hula;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beacon_of_Hope_(sculpture)
