When other kids come to class forgot their homework because engrossed in their hobbies, I myself ne

Each graduation ceremony at ITB is always a welcome speech from one of the graduates. Usually chosen give a personal speech is unique, but not always having the best GPA. As far as I've ever attended, most of the content of speech is not too special, a christmas carol at most, it memorable memorabilia for studying at ITB campus, student life during lectures, messages, a christmas carol and thanks to the faculty and the academic community friends.
However, as I wrote in a post-speech is not an ITB graduates, but graduates high school in America. A few days ago I received a mail from a friend in the mailing address of lecturers whose contents footage Erica Goldson (high school) at the graduation ceremony at Coxsackie-Athens High School, New York, in 2010. Erica Goldson is graduates who graduated with the best grades that year. The contents of his speech was very interesting and I think very intriguing. However, after I read it, there is a sense of concern that emerged (I'll explain). Excerpts of this speech quoted from the following blog post: http://pohonbodhi.blogspot.com/2010/09/you-are-either-with-me -or-against-me.html
"I graduated. Should I take it as an enjoyable experience, especially because I was the best in my class graduates. However, after reflection, I can not say that I was smarter than my friends. All I can say is that I really was the best at doing what they're told to me, and also in terms of following the existing system.
Here I stand, and should be proud that I have completed follow this indoctrination period. I would go this winter and into the following phases are expected to me, after getting a paper document that certifies that I have been able to work.
But I was a man, a thinker, a seeker of life experience - not workers. Workers are people who are stuck in the loop, a slave in the system are locked herself. Now, I have successfully shown that I was the smartest slaves. I did what was told to me extremely well. At the time other people sitting daydreaming in class and then become great artists, I sat in the classroom diligently take notes and become a christmas carol a follower of the greatest test.
When other kids come to class forgot their homework because engrossed in their hobbies, I myself never neglect my homework. When others create music and lyrics, I just take extra credits, although I do not need it. So, I wondered if I really wanted to be the best graduates? Of course, I deserve it, I have worked a christmas carol hard to get it, but what will I be? When I leave educational institutions, will I be successful or I would get lost in my life?
I do not know what I want in life. I do not have a hobby, because all subjects is just a job to learn, and I graduated with the best grades a christmas carol in every subject just for the sake to pass, not to learn. And to be honest, now I begin to fear ....... "
Hmmm ... after reading the best graduate speech earlier, what's your impression? I think his speech was an honest expression, but I think honesty is "scary". Scary because during the school he just chasing a high score, but he left the opportunity to develop themselves in other fields, a christmas carol such as hobbies, skills, soft skills, and others. As a result, after he graduated he felt giddy, feeling afraid to dive into the real world, namely the public. Even more tragic, a christmas carol he himself does not know what he wants in life.
I often find students who are just struggling a christmas carol with college affairs alone. His obsession is to get high marks for all subjects. He was not interested in participating in student activities, both on the set and in the Student Activity Unit. For him only lectures, lectures, and courses. It is true that she is very diligent, always a christmas carol doing homework and assignments with flying colors. Indeed, his GPA high end, cum-laude graduate anyway. There is nothing wrong with his obsession pursue high value, because all students a christmas carol should a christmas carol like it, which is pursuing the best value for each lecture. However, to live in the real world a student can not only armed with the value of college, but he also requires some sort of life skills soft skills are only gained from the development in the field of non-academic.
Now, if only the weight of students in the hard skills and equip themselves with the skills to live, how will he be ready to face the real world life requires communication skills, diplomacy, relations anta
